A safer alternative to shaking hands

I know this might sound crazy, but if everyone on the planet gave each other a thumbs up (without touching) or gentle butt bump instead of shaking hands or a kiss on the cheek would we save hundreds of thousands of lives from flu and other viruses? Hugs would be ok so long as you don't touch faces or cough or sneeze. Of course if you are getting intimate or share a room with the person this would not make any difference as whatever they have you will get anyway.

these people are risking their lives for you so don't buy or use N95 or higher grade masks unless you need it for your job. There is not enough supply at the moment.
