Social Dilemna

It is really scary what AI can do. But it is just a technology that can be used for good and bad. With AI we now have so many improvements in quality of life that most people are not aware of as costs of doing business are reduced across many sectors. It's use will rise exponentially so the ability for doing bad or good will similarly rise. We are in a critical stage where we need to see and decide which companies to support in this field. While there is a ton of bad that Facebook do, there is also a ton of good which just outweighs that. Facebook is making advances in VR and AR as well as use of AI to help us communicate in situations that would not normally be possible. Facebook tech can now help people born with only 3 fingers see and use a full 5 fingers with AR. IF you want to be a demon typist Facebook tech can add a 6th finger in AR and allow your brain to adjust and control it!

8k displays are now close to life-like reality

I now have a computer that is pretty much capable of displaying and producing 8k content. That is 33million pixels or four times what is commonly in your top end smartphone or high end monitors and Tvs. 4k resolution is only 8.3 million pixels. This approaches photo-realism in that your brain can find it hard not to see that it is not real. Since our brains only see reality in high resolution in a small section of our view in our fovea, the rest of what we see is MADE UP by our brains. 50% of what you see might not be real. This is why eye-witnesses at important events are sometimes not lying when they see different things, and it is how a lot of magic tricks work as they fool your brain into not seeing something or seeing something that does not exist. This adds to the Roshomon effect. In the future, if you cannot afford a view of Hong Kong harbour you could probably just stick a 120 inch 8k display on the wall and you would be unable to tell the diference between it and the real thing until you got to less than a metre from it. I have also ordered a 4k VR headset. Looking forward to 16k and 32k VR in the future, which will mean it will look almost indistinguishable from reality.
